SIBU: Pork is expected to cost more here beginning Feb 20, according to an inside source.
According to him, the current price for a pig is RM990 per 100kg but beginning Feb 20, it is expected to increase by RM100 per 100kg.
“This means the market price for pork will also increase as suppliers will raise the prices,” he said on Thursday.
It is believed that pork sellers in town have received notification on the impending price hike, which will not only affect them but also their counterparts in Kuching, Bintulu, Miri and the rest of the state.
When contacted, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Sibu branch chief Kasim Mana said pork, on ordinary days, was not a controlled item; thus, the traders could have their own reasons to increase or decrease prices. SARAWAK TRIBUNE
